9000 Series “Flip Rail” Full-Width Slide-Mounted Equipment Cases — ECS’ innovative “Flip Rail” frame allows full-width electronic equipment to be slide mounted in the rackmount frame. Prior to the creation of the “Flip Rail” rack, full width electronic equipment could not be slide-mounted in a standard CEA-310 rack or in a rackmount case.
The extruded aluminum vertical rails of the “Flip Rack” frame rotate outward to allow the equipment slides to slide past the 19-inch rack mounting rails for the equipment. Equipment slides are mounted inboard from the vertical rails, and they remain concealed until the equipment needs to be pulled out the front of the rack.
One variation of the “Flip Rail” design allows a full-size rack, with conventional CEA 310 interior dimensions, to be installed inside the shock mounted rack in the case. This allows assembled sets of equipment, which are assembled into the inner rack, to be transported safely in the shock mounted rack which is permanently installed in the center-body of the case. The entire set of equipment can be removed from the shock mounted rack and field reinstalled into racks in military shelters or other field deployed rackmount systems.
